We began Cool In Cloth in todays economic climate exactly 2 years ago and still it made sense to us to offer high quality easily washed and worn again and again Organic Baby & Childrens clothes. Conventional cotton is one of the most chemically dependent crops. The result is that 10 percent of all the worlds pesticides & 25 percent of insecticides are used on cotton crops that grow on only 3 percent of our arable land; that’s more than any other crop per unit. For 1 Kilo of non organic cotton 29,000 litres of water is needed. This isn’t just bad for the planet, thousands of deaths occur each year from pesticide poisoning in developing countries. Organic cotton on the other hand uses methods designed to help sustain the land, the people involved in growing and harvesting it which overall helps the planet.
A most welcome benefit of organic cotton is its softness as the fibres are untreated and not sprayed with formaldehyde to give that 'fresh look' in store.Babies skin is 5 times thinner than that of an adults and more susceptible to absorbing toxic chemicals from clothing and products.
